Associate Dean William Huckle

Dr William Huckle

Dr. William R. Huckle joined the Graduate School in August 2017.  He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences & Pathobiology in the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech.

Dr. Huckle oversees the Interdisciplinary Graduate Education Programs (IGEP) and the Individual Interdisciplinary Doctoral (IPh.D.) program for the Graduate School. In addition, he serves as an instructor for Transformative Graduate Education courses.

Prior to joining the Virginia Tech faculty in 1999, Dr. Huckle was a research scientist at Merck & Company, Inc., working in cardiovascular and cancer drug discovery.  He received an M.S. in Biochemistry from Virginia Tech and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Iowa and performed post-doctoral research in cancer cell biology at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

Dr. Huckle has been active in graduate curriculum design, student recruitment and admissions, and program governance in his home college as well as in the School of Biomedical Engineering and Science, the Department of Biological Sciences, the Department of Basic Science Education at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, and the Virginia Tech Faculty of Health Sciences, where he enjoys affiliate or adjunct faculty member status.
