Since being appointed as director in 2002, Monika Gibson has been responsible for the development, management and assessment of services and support programs for graduate students.

After a short career in the hotel industry, she has worked in various professional positions at three higher education institutions in the past 22 years. She has extensive experience in working with graduate students, advising international students, program development and management, policy development, event planning, and public presentations. She played a key role in the establishment of the Graduate Life Center at Donaldson Brown in 2005.

Monika earned a bachelor’s degree in hotel and restaurant management in Hungary and a master’s degree in higher education, leadership and policy studies in the United States.

Living in a small rural community and caring for her plants and animals keeps Monika grounded, which she finds very important and necessary in order to maintain some balance between work and life.
