All new international graduate students are required to check in with International Graduate Student Services (IGSS) in 120 Graduate Life Center before the semester begins. Bring the following documents and information to your appointment:
- your passport
- printed I-94 (print your I-94 form online at the Customs and Border Patrol website)
- I-20 or DS-2019 form
- local address information (hotel or other temporary addresses are not acceptable; you may check in only after you have found permanent housing; during check-in you will fill out a form with your local address, but you don't have to show proof of rental agreement or other documentation)
Check-in takes about 15 minutes per student. Students arriving for Summer I or Summer II sessions must check in with IGSS in person. Students arriving for Fall 2018 will do self-check-in online. Please return to this website in July for instructions on the self-check-in process.
Please note that while immigration check-in is mandatory, it does not have to be completed before you can register for classes, get your Hokie Passport, and take care of other items on the new student checklist.
