The Office of Recruitment, Diversity, and Inclusion works with colleges and units across the university to support recruitment efforts. Each year, just before the Fall semester starts, the Graduate School holds a recruitment and diversity summit meeting. Discussion topics include recruitment, enrollment, the fall recruitment schedule, the Historically Black Colleges and Universities/Minority Supporting Institutes (HBCU/MSI) Research Summit, and more.

The purpose of the Coordinated Site Visits Program is to recruit competitive graduate students who identify as members of underrepresented groups and to implement effective retention strategies to integrate these students into the Virginia Tech community, while establishing and maintaining strong connections with faculty from minority serving institutions.  

The Graduate and Professional Student Senate hosts an annual recruitment fair typically held in late September. Colleges, departments, and programs are encouraged to purchase a booth to recruit VT students and students from the surrounding area.
