Interdisciplinary Academic Programs
Academics and engineering adtninistration. Formerly called Engineering Building. Southwest wing completed Spring 1960; cost $377,983; North wing, joining Holden Hall, completed Summer 1962; cost $529,100. Total building contains 72,375 sq. ft. Named after Earle Bertram Norris (1882-1966) who was Dean of the School of Engineering from 1928 to 1952 and Director of the Engineering Experiment Station from 1932 to 1952.

Biological Transport (BIOTRANS) previously known as Multi-Scale Transport in Environmental and Physiological Systems

The Biological Transport (BIOTRANS) program provides a framework for interdisciplinary education and research that trains future leaders of academic and industrial research to think, collaborate, and contribute at the intersection of the biological and engineering sciences. This program develops participants who are experts in a core discipline of engineering or biology and who are also proficient in the alternate discipline, with understanding and appreciation of its methods, culture, and perspectives. BIOTRANS trainees can receive 12 months of financial support from the program while working toward a graduate degree in one of the departments listed below.

To receive full consideration for financial support in the following academic year, applications should be submitted by January 15.
