Current Funding Opportunities

Funding for graduate education may come from many sources and in many pieces. Students may receive funds for in-state or out-of-state tuition, for comprehensive fees, or as a salary stipend. They may be self-supporting, or receive loans for graduate study, or they may be fellowship or scholarship recipients. This page provides resources to help you find current funding opportunities. Announcements Received by the Graduate School
The Graduate School regularly receives information about funding opportunities for graduate students. The following announcements will provide instruction on where to obtain more information about each program as well as an application. This list is updated regularly. Please check back frequently.

Fellowships and Scholarship Fair
Each year the Graduate School presents a comprehensive display of nationally competitive fellowships and scholarships. Visit the Virtual Fellowships and Scholarships Fair to learn about external funding opportunities sorted by college.

Opportunity Update
Students are encouraged to check the online Opportunity Update, published by Virginia Tech's Office of the Vice President for Research. This site provides weekly updates about funding for research and scholarship.

Cornell University created this comprehensive database of fellowships from primarily non-Cornell sources. They are organized by topic and applicant group.

GrantsNet
GrantsNet is a searchable database of funding and training opportunities in biomedical research and science education for graduate and medical students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty.

National Academies
Administers predoctoral, dissertation, and postdoctoral fellowship programs in research-based fields of study including the Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowships.
