Summer Health Care
The Schiffert Health Center delivers services through a student health fee (which is included in the Comprehensive Fee) when tuition is paid each semester/summer session. During the summer, graduate students who are not enrolled in classes but are required to remain on campus as a part of their graduate programs must pay the summer student health fee ($80.00 per summer session) to be eligible for services at the Health Center. You must provide a letter from your Department Head stating you are required to be on campus during the summer working on research for your thesis or dissertation. The health fee is not automatically added to your Bursar account and should be paid at the Schiffert Health Center with a check or cash if you wish to be seen at the Health Center .
Access to Facilities
Graduate students who are not enrolled in classes in the summer may use the library, War Memorial Gym and the Blacksburg Transit Service with their Hokie Passport. However, they will not be able to access services that require the payment of comprehensive fees, such as McComas Hall.
Tuition, Fees and Benefits
Please visit the Bursar's Office (Student Accounts) homepage for information about summer tuition and fees. Students who are enrolled in the summer maintain the same benefits for which they are eligible during the fall and spring semesters. Graduate Assistants' (GAs, GTAs and GRAs) tuition may or may not be paid by their departments in the summer.
